James Cameron declares that he’s permanently, exclusively in the Avatar-and-fish business
Unsatisfied with having Avatar sequels as his only projects for the immediate future, filmmaker, deep-sea explorer, and potential future Fish Emperor James Cameron has apparently taken that plan a step further, telling The New York Times’ Media Decoder blog that the Pandora-set films may be the only narrative features he’ll make from now on. While Cameron previously committed to two Avatar sequels as his next releases, he now claims to be “in the Avatar business. Period.” Having “completely disbanded” the development arm of production company Lightstorm Entertainment, Cameron says he’s “making Avatar 2, Avatar 3, maybe Avatar 4, and I’m not going to produce other people’s movies for them.”
