James Urbaniak demystifies “Jumping the shark.”

After shining some light on the origin of the phrase “That’s what she said,” comedians are working to demystify other TV parlance. The Venture Bros.’ James Urbaniak launched his own web chat show earlier this week called Topic A, starting by sitting down with Jeff Breederman (Dave “Gruber” Allen from Freaks & Geeks) to discuss “Jumping the shark.” Breederman penned the Happy Days episode that gave rise the phrase, and the clip shows a bewildered Urbaniak questioning an increasingly agitated Breederman—who cannot believe the mockery his TV writing doth wrought. Things haven’t been this awkward since the last episode of The Michael Showalter Showalter. Or, that other guy-sits-in-a-dark-room show you may have heard of.
