Answer: What is Jeopardy! YouTube Edition?

Question: This long-running game show announced that its new version on the biggest streaming service in the world will have this title.

Answer: What is Jeopardy! YouTube Edition?

Jeopardy! has had many iterations and variations over the years, but here’s a new one: It’s all YouTubers. This is per The Hollywood Reporter, which reports that Jeopardy! YouTube edition will debut its first episode at 9 pm on March 31, with “other exclusive content to follow.” The first episode will see Monet X Change of “Monet Talks,” Brennan Lee Mulligan of the channel Dimension20, and general YouTube legend Rebecca Black compete. One way or another, the prize money is going to help queer people; Monet will play for GLAAD, while Mulligan and Black will both play for The Trevor Project.

Ken Jennings will also host the YouTube Edition of Jeopardy! after having spent five years as the host of the flagship series. Per THR‘s description, it sounds like the show will be largely similar to the original Jeopardy!, or at least Celebrity Jeopardy! with questions more directly relevant to its participants. There will reportedly be categories based on pop and internet culture and feature a decent amount of video clues, often delivered by other YouTubers. It’s not immediately clear when or even if more episodes of the show, but the goal is to meet some of the younger demographic where they’re actually at and to hopefully get them invested in the series. Anything even resembling educational content that can be added to YouTube is probably a net good for society, too.
