Jessica Lange to class up Ryan Murphy's American Horror Story
Ryan Murphy continues to keep the major plot points of his forthcoming FX series American Horror Story under his jaunty yellow chapeau, but with each casting announcement, we learn a little bit more about what it will entail. Today it was revealed that Jessica Lange will join the show as a nosy neighbor to Connie Britton, whose own character is described as a “force to be reckoned with” and the “gorgeous wife” to her yet-to-be-cast husband, a “sensitive therapist.” Since Lange came on board—bringing with her those permanently arched eyebrows that always seem to say, “Remember, I’ve won two Academy Awards and an Emmy and you want me to play what?”—a genuflecting Murphy and co-producer Brad Falchuk have begun rewriting the script to expand her role to something more worthy of her time and effort. The only other cast member confirmed so far is True Blood’s vampire king Denis O’Hare, who plays the mysterious character known as “Larry The Burn Guy,” presumably a stand-up comic whose shtick is commenting on life’s little foibles in a way that burn victims can appreciate.
