John Wraith

Who he is: John Wraith

His power: Teleportation

His story: John Wraith appears in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, where he’s introduced as a member of Col. William Stryker’s mutant strike force, Team X. Wraith helps Stryker get his hands on the adamantium that will be fused to Wolverine’s skeleton years later, and when Wolverine embarks on a mission of vengeance after the procedure, Wraith joins him to take down his former boss and redeem his past sins. In his time away from Team X, Wraith opens a gym that serves as the training ground for another former colleague, Fred “Blob” Dukes, and information from Dukes sends Wraith and Wolverine to New Orleans to get even more information from the Cajun hustler Gambit. This is where Wraith’s story comes to an end, as picking a fight with Victor Creed goes very badly for him. He lands a few good hits, but teleports directly onto Victor’s hand, which gets a firm grip on Wraith’s spine as he materializes over it. Flickering in and out like a living glitch effect, Wraith is killed when Victor crushes his spine.

Played by: William “will.i.am” Adams, who sadly never once says, “Where’s the love?” “Let’s get it started,” “I gotta feeling,” or “Boom boom pow” in the film.

Currently, John Wraith is: The new timeline created by X-Men: Days Of Future Past undoes Wraith’s death, but his current status in XMU continuity is unknown. He could still be working with Stryker, but there has been no evidence that he is.

Where will we see him next? There are no plans for John Wraith to appear in any upcoming X-films, but it’s possible that he and his cowboy hat could show up in Deadpool 2, given his ties to the character in the previous timeline.
