Jon Stewart won’t be among the first round of layoffs at the newly formed Skydance, thank you very much. The legendary Daily Show host, who gave the show its voice and then saved it from post-Trevor Noah malaise, helped the series rebound to its place as one of the network’s most popular shows. Understandably, Comedy Central would like to keep his chair warm and has re-signed Stewart for another two years. He’ll be continuing his hosting duties through Indecision 2028. Given the precarity of late-night comedy, particularly that which trades in political humor and can rankle presidents of TV networks and the United States alike, Stewart often jokes about possibly losing his job, especially when commenting on other victimized hosts. Despite the parent company’s issues with former Daily Show correspondent and late-night talk show host Stephen Colbert, Skydance is quite happy with the Stewart-led turnaround of the long-running news-based comedy.
