Joy Reid, one of the most recognizable faces on MSNBC, is in the middle of a quiet break-up with the liberal news network. Per CNN, MSNBC has canceled Reid’s evening news show, The ReidOut, and will reportedly replace it with a new series from the station’s Weekend hosts Symone Sanders Townsend, Michael Steele, and Alicia Menendez. Additionally, former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki will ascend to primetime as the American left continues its search for a liberal Joe Rogan and lands on someone from the Biden administration. Her show, Inside With Jen Psaki, is among the network’s most-watched titles, so it makes sense.

Reid joined MSNBC as host of the afternoon news show, The Reid Report, before being promoted to national correspondent. She later hosted AM Joy, a weekend news and interview program that became one of the network’s most popular. AM Joy made Reid one of MSNBC’s most well-known anchors and one of its most online. While she and Chris Hayes can fight over which MSNBC alum needs to log off more, Reid’s Twitter usage made her a frequent target for criticism, and the attention seemingly benefited her for a time. In 2020, she took over the Hardball slot from Chris Matthews, making Reid one of the few Black women news anchors on primetime cable.

CNN reports that Reid will host her final show this week as part of a programming shakeup under the network’s new president, Rebecca Kutler. Kutler has also removed Alex Wagner Tonight from the lineup, but Wagner is expected to remain with MSNBC as a correspondent.
