Keanu Reeves seeks the truth in the stock trailer for Exposed
Keanu Reeves plays a cop investigating his corrupt partner’s death in Exposed, and the new trailer for the film is about as routine as the premise suggests. After a woman, played by Ana de Armas (who also worked with Reeves in Eli Roth’s Knock Knock), finds the body of Reeves’ partner, our favorite dead-eyed hero starts working his way through the criminal underworld of New York City to find out what happened. Along the way, he discovers that his partner was in deep with the wrong people, is told by his superior to drop the investigation, and then of course can’t because he’s a dogged protagonist who smokes cigarettes and has a crew cut, and those guys don’t stop until they get the truth. Along the way, he encounters Mira Sorvino’s accent, which was married to the deceased cop and uses questionable vowel sounds to guilt Reeves into finishing his mission no matter the cost.
Despite the banal genre requirements, it’s worth noting that this film used to be called Daughter Of God and that the official synopsis notes that Ana de Armas’ character “witnesses a miracle.” Okay. Well, that angle didn’t make it into this trailer, so either the filmmakers have tweaked the story since the title change, or they’re saving the unique stuff for the actual movie. Exposed will be available in limited release and on video on demand on January 22, 2016.
