Last Comic Standing gets another chance to prove itself
After being jerked around and given false hope several times over, only to consider ditching it all to teach improv at its local community college, Last Comic Standing is getting another chance. NBC has picked up the show for what is technically its eighth season, but really its third or fourth revival: The reality series has been cut from primetime almost more than any of the comedians that have appeared on its stage, getting canceled after its third season in 2004, returning in 2006 only to disappear again two years later, then having a one-off revival in 2010. This latest version will be executive produced by Wanda Sykes, though the network has yet to name a host, who would join a lineage that includes Bill Bellamy, Jay Mohr, and most recently, Craig Robinson. It kind of seems like a waste to have Wanda Sykes just sort of hanging around backstage, though; maybe executive producer Wanda Sykes can work something out with her.
