LCD Soundsystem sets up shop for another New York residency

New York isn’t bringing LCD Soundsystem down anymore. The band is returning to the Big Apple for their fifth official New York City residency. (Well, fourth and a half, if you count the truncated 2021 run that turned into a superspreader event.) LCD Soundsystem will play 12 nights at the Knockdown Center in Queens, where they previously performed in both 2023 and 2024. The band will announce the residency’s opening acts at a later date, but a poster specifies that guests will include “prestigious live acts” and “international DJs.” Pitchfork reports that the run will also include afterparties with live DJs, a DFA record swap meet, an on-site outpost of front man James Murphy’s Michelin-starred wine bar The Four Horsemen, and various “other attractions.”

Last November, the band released a new single called “X-Ray Eyes” and teased that they were working on their fifth studio album “when we’re not playing shows,” per Pitchfork. It would be their first since 2017’s American Dream. Just don’t ask Murphy when it will actually be out. “We’re still working on it,” he said in a statement at the time. “Anything else you hear is bullshit speculation.” Still, he added, “It feels very good to be putting out new music.” If the band is only working on the album between shows, it might be a while until we hear new material. In addition to the New York residency, LCD Soundsystem will also play the See.Hear.Now Festival in Asbury Park (September 13), the Portola Music Festival in San Francisco (September 20), and two shows at the Hollywood Bowl with Pulp (September 25-26). They’ll also play three shows in Aspen after the New York residency concludes.

Tickets for the general public will go on sale September 19 at 10 a.m. ET, with a variety of pre-sales happening in the days prior. You can find more information here. Check out the full residency schedule below:

November: 20, 21, 22, 23
