There’s something old-school and classic about a stand-up comedian getting a self-titled sitcom. And who in the modern TV biz is better at making old-school, classic shows than Chuck Lorre? The famed producer behind similarly personality-based comedies like Roseanne and Cybill (not to mention a slew of other hits over the last 35 years) is lending his magic touch to a new Netflix series starring comic Leanne Morgan. On Wednesday, the streamer shared a Leanne first look ahead of the series premiere on July 31.

According to the series synopsis, “Leanne’s life takes an unexpected turn when her husband of 33 years leaves her for another woman. Starting over when you’re a grandmother and in menopause isn’t exactly what she had in mind, but with the help of her family she will navigate this new chapter with grace, dignity and jello salad.”

Morgan (known for her Netflix special I’m Every Woman) co-created the series with Lorre and Susan McMartin. “The show isn’t based on my life—I’m still happily married to my Chuck Morgan!—but it is inspired by it,” the star explained to People. “I’m excited to share more about myself and where I come from with viewers, and I can’t wait for y’all to see the incredible cast they’ve paired me with.”

The Leanne first look offers a peek at Morgan surrounded by the very funny ensemble, which includes Kristen Johnston (an alum of Lorre’s Mom) as her sister Carol; Ryan Stiles as her ex Bill; Celia Weston and Blake Clark as her parents; and Graham Rogers (an alum of Lorre’s The Kominsky Method) and Hannah Pilkes as her adult children. The first season also features guest stars Tim Daly, Jayma Mays, Annie Gonzalez, and Blake Gibbons.

Morgan gushed about meeting Lorre to People, sharing, “When he came to my home in Knoxville to learn more about me and my family for inspiration for the show I had to pinch myself. To make my very first television series with a titan of the industry taught me something new every day and I’m so honored to work with him.” You can check out the Leanne first look below.
