Legendary writer Warren Ellis joins the new James Bond comic series
Back in October, we reported that comic book publisher Dynamite Entertainment had made a deal with Ian Fleming’s estate for the rights to produce a new series of James Bond prequel comics, along with the rights to all 14 of Fleming’s original Bond books. Now that plan has been expanded: As revealed by Comic Book Resources, Dynamite will now be publishing adaptations of those original books, as well as an entirely new Bond series written by famed comics writer Warren Ellis (Transmetropolitan, Moon Knight). That’s in addition to the existing plan to tell Bond stories that are set before Casino Royale, Fleming’s first book. Ellis’ new Bond stories (which are being drawn by artist Jason Masters) will be set in the present day—like the movies—but the origin story and adaptations will be set back in the ’50s and ‘60s.
The first issue of James Bond will be in stores in November, just in time for Spectre on November 6.
