Listen to an unreleased Donovan Wolfington song off a jam-packed benefit album

For much of the ‘90s and early 2000s, compilations served as a way for bands to release B-sides, demos, and other versions of songs that wouldn’t fit on a proper album. These type of compilations are few and far between now, but one stands to the biggest of the modern era, The Big Comp II. Released by Big Footprints records, the compilation benefits two charities, 1BlueString and The Nature Conservancy’s Adopt An Acre program, with 85 artists offering material–both new and old–for the project. The A.V. Club is premiering Donovan Wolfington’s “Spiders,” an unreleased track from the sessions that spawned the band’s five-song EP Scary Stories You Tell In The Dark, and sees the band embracing its loud-quiet shifts more than ever before.

The Big Comp II is available via Big Footprints’ Bandcamp page for a measly $5, with all of the proceeds benefitting the aforementioned charities.
