On his second album, Warren Franklin name-checked everyone from Brian Wilson to The Murder City Devils while passionately bashing away at his acoustic guitar. Of all the artists Franklin paid homage to, it was Elvis Costello—whose My Aim Is True directly referenced—that had the biggest influence. Since then, Franklin has expanded his reach with the addition of The Founding Fathers, and on the group’s newest EP, Now That I’m Here, I Can’t Imagine Being Anywhere Else, the band takes another step toward replicating the sounds of the bespectacled power-pop architect.
