Listen to the new album from Crooks On Tape, a new group featuring members of Enon

Fans of late ‘90s/early ‘00s rock band Enon will probably be fans of Crooks On Tape. That’s because the group boasts two members from the Dayton band—John Schmersal and Rick Lee—as well as a heaping helping of the group’s psych-pop aesthetic. Formed in 2010 in Los Angeles, Crooks is part art project, part band. The group gets together, improvises, and records that material. The group’s new debut record, Fingerprint, is streaming below exclusively on The A.V. Club, and is the culmination of all that improvisational time and space. Hundreds of hours of material were whittled down to become the one album, a piece that the band’s label, Misra, says is “analogous to tiny snapshots of an altered crime scene.”

Fingerprints is out next week, but is available for pre-order now.
