Los Angeles Film Critics continue bitter feud with New York by picking Amour and The Master as year's best
Reigniting the bitter East Coast/West Coast feud that has sent many a critic to an early grave and sparked a lot of shitty, shitty rap songs, the L.A. Film Critics Association released its list of 2012's best, and proved once again that New York film critics make lists like this [flustered, Woody Allen-esque endorsement of Zero Dark Thirty while trying to hail a taxicab], and L.A. film critics make lists like this [laconic thumbs-up to Amour while surfing]. In addition to being way cool with Michael Haneke's totally laidback examination of love being horribly tested by death, L.A. also differed significantly from its New York counterpart by singling out The Master for Best Director, Best Actor (Joaquin Phoenix), and Best Supporting Actress (Amy Adams), and choosingBeasts Of The Southern Wild's Dwight Henry for Best Supporting Actor over New York's choice of Matthew McConaughey in Magic Mike, which L.A. is still kind of snickering about.
Check out the full list below, in which Roger Deakins also wins a well-deserved award, and Lincoln doesn't exist.
