Maria Bartiromo lawyers up and says she still works for Fox News

Yesterday, Fox Business News anchor Maria Bartiromo was abruptly fired from her position after 12 ½ years. Or was she? According to Bartiromo and her new attorney Bryan Freedman (who you may recognize from representing Justin Baldoni, Chris Cuomo, the Michael Jackson estate, or one of several other cases), the reports that she was fired from the network are false.

“The irresponsible reports that have been published stating that Maria Bartiromo was fired or is no longer an employee of Fox are absolutely and unequivocally false,” Freedman says in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, in which he calls her “one of the hardest-working journalists throughout her award-winning career.” The statement continues, “Make no mistake, we have the receipts and witnesses and they will come out whether through the courthouse or otherwise. Those reporting her firing or the incredulous facts supporting that fiction have exhibited a complete and utter reckless disregard for the truth.”

This, obviously, is a bit confusing given that her employer publicly wished her the best as it sent her on her way yesterday. As we reported, it had been a couple of weeks since Bartiromo had appeared on the air before the network made the news public. While she was still on the air, she was prone to going down conspiratorial rabbit holes, and was also named in the lawsuits brought by voting machine companies against Fox News. We’ll have to see what “receipts” Bartiromo and Freedman have to contradict her employer telling the world that she doesn’t work there anymore.
