“We are so excited to tell more Runaways stories and are so grateful to Marvel, Hulu, our amazing cast and crew and of course our passionate audience,” said Schwartz and Savage said in a statement. “Season three will be a magical time on Runaways, as we deepen our connection to the Marvel universe. We are honored to continue to play in the sandbox created by Brian K. Vaughn and Adrian Alphona.”
Deepen the connection, you say? Interesting.
Overall, we enjoyed the second season, saying in our pre-air review that Runaways improved upon its predecessor with “exciting set pieces, knottier moral complexity in the issues addressed, and a freer sense of storytelling.” Heading into the third season, we’ll see the Gibborim family as the series’ full-on antagonists, as well as, we’re hoping, a bit of clarity around the foggy, but intriguing mythology binding Xavin, Jonah, and Karolina.
The third season will consist of 10 episodes. A premiere date is forthcoming.
