Murder of Hollywood publicist most likely just "a random act of violence"

Randy and Evi Quaid’s wild theorizing aside, police now believe that the murder of Hollywood publicist Ronni Chasen was simply a “robbery gone bad.” Preliminary ballistics tests revealed that the gun used to kill Chasen Nov. 16 was the same used by a suspect who killed himself when confronted by police, who were acting on a tip received through America’s Most Wanted. A spokesman for the LAPD said that the case is still “60 to 70 percent done” while detectives work to eliminate all possibility that someone else could have been involved, although they “do not believe he was a paid hit man,” but rather someone who “was at a desperate point in his life and was reaching out to do desperate measures.”
