Murder of Hollywood publicist still a mystery, now involves Buddy Hackett

Police are still investigating the recent murder of Hollywood publicist Ronni Chasen, but they have reached one conclusion: It was most likely planned in advance, and not the result of “road rage or a carjacking gone awry.” The working theory is that another car pulled alongside Chasen’s, whereupon someone fired the multiple shots into her chest that killed her and drove away, but beyond that there’s not much to go on.

Oddly enough, one of the crucial clues may come from the widow of late comedian Buddy Hackett, who has turned over footage from the many security cameras outside her estate, just down the road from the intersection where it happened. Beyond that, however, police have yet to devise a theory as to why anyone would want to kill Chasen, nor discover any hint from anyone who knew her that she may have had anything close to an enemy. Chasen certainly seemed to have zero suspicion that she may be in danger, having called her publicity company and left a routine “to-do list” voicemail for her staff, just six minutes prior. Not to make light of her murder, obviously, but at this point Randy Quaid’s “Hollywood Star-Whackers” hypothesis is just as good as any.
