Skeeter from Doug (and a very infected ear) feature in Mythic Quest's Side Quest trailer

Ever since its first season, Apple TV+’s Mythic Quest has made a name for itself with its standalone installments, showcasing stories and characters outside its central tale of dysfunctional weirdos making video games. Now the series has formalized that tendency with its new anthology spin-off Side Quest, which features four different adventures focused on the world around the show’s titular video game. This weekend, Apple released a new trailer for the show, containing tons of new characters and ideas that we will begin engaging with just as soon as we stop staring obsessively at the horrible fake infected ear they put on Rob McElhenney for this thing.

McElhenney features only briefly in the trailer, appearing alongside Derek Waters as Ian Grimm attempts to recruit him for…something? related to Mythic Quest the game. The trailer is actually super vague on plot details for any of its stories, to the point that, if you didn’t know you were looking at a promo for an anthology series, you might have trouble tracking the different threads. The most engaging on offer is one that seems to be focused on a comic shop operated by a largely Black cast, including Abbott Elementary‘s William Stanford Davis. The series as a whole also stars Anna Konkle, Bria Samoné Henderson, Rome Flynn, Leonard Robinson, Gary Kraus, Annamarie Kasper, Esai Morales, and Shalita Grant, and will debut all four of its episodes alongside the season four finale of the mothership series on March 26. The series was developed and executive produced by regular series cast member Ashly Burch and John Howell Harris and Katie McElhenney.
