Netflix is creating a French version of House Of Cards
Watching a horrible person in power do horrible things to advance his career has proved supremely entertaining in English-speaking countries already. Thus, Netflix has announced that it will commission eight episodes of Marseille, a “tale of power, corruption and redemption set against the rich backdrop of the French port city.” The show will revolve around the mayoral race in the titular town, which is France’s second-largest city. As the U.S. version has with American filmmakers, Marseille will feature established French directors such as Florent-Emilio Siri, who will direct the first two episodes. Marseille is expected to be released at the end of 2015.
