Netflix might also take The River off ABC's hands, you know, if ABC's done with it
Quickly establishing itself as the Goodwill of television, Netflix has entered talks to pick up yet another discarded, perhaps soiled yet still perfectly usable show—ABC’s The River—to add to its growing assortment of secondhand bric-a-brac. The supernatural shaky-cam horror series barely finished barreling through all its leftover sketchy character back stories this past Tuesday, but already Deadline reports that the streaming service is in talks with ABC about continuing the show, which is all but officially canceled at this point. Of course, like those recent discussions regarding the similarly high-concept, low-payoff Terra Nova, these talks are merely “exploratory,” and may not lead to anything. But it does speak to Netflix’s new, overall business model of “Uh, you gonna finish that?”
