Zazie Beetz is undercover in the trailer for Apple TV's latest thriller, Nocturne

Apple TV’s latest thriller is immediately dipping into the prestige TV actor well with its first trailer. This morning, we see the first footage of Nocturne, which brings together Ray Donovan‘s Liev Scheiber, Atlanta‘s Zazie Beetz, and Adolescence‘s Stephen Graham. The latter of the three plays what we might describe as a Hannibal Lecter-esque (in terms of mind games and not, as far as we know, cannibalism) serial killer. Nocturne also appears to continue the trend of crime thrillers that take place in Pennsylvania, coming on the heels of HBO hits like Mare Of Easttown and Task.

Nocturne, according to an official synopsis, “tells the story of Jonah Lynn (Schreiber), an ex-soldier turned homicide detective who, tired of working the tough streets of Philadelphia, moves to a small town in Western Pennsylvania for a quiet life. But, as the town and his family come under attack from the diabolically cunning serial killer Jurek Walter (Graham), Jonah must protect all that he holds dear. When the desperate search for Jurek’s last missing victim forces Jonah to send his surrogate daughter FBI Agent Saga Bauer (Beetz) up against Jurek, how far will Jonah go?”

Nocturne also stars Bill Camp, Rory Culkin, Chrissy Metz, Poorna Jagannathan, and Gary Carr. Its first two episodes premiere on Apple TV on Friday, October 30, with new episodes premiering weekly through December 25.
