Oh baby baby, Lifetime’s Britney biopic looks nuts
Although you should never doubt Lifetime’s ability to take a salacious story and puree it into the TV-movie equivalent of baby food, the network has once again got our hopes up with the trailer for its newest celebrity biopic, Britney Ever After. Starring Hail, Ceasar! bit player Natasha Bassett as the troubled pop star, Britney Ever After follows the Louisiana native’s rise to fame and umbrella-and-hair clippers-assisted fall.
The teaser trailer for the movie leans rather heavily on both of these events, evoking hazy memories of not only that time Britney fucked up a car, but of that February night in 2007 when Spears walked into Esther’s Hair Salon in Tarzana, Calif., asked the stylist to shave her head, and when the stylist refused, gave herself the G.I. Jane special. (Perhaps that’s why Spears herself wants nothing to do with the movie.) Add some laughs, some tears, some screaming fans, and someone plunking out single notes on a piano to let you know this is all very serious, and bam! You’ve got yourself a Lifetime movie.
Britney Ever After premieres February 18 at 8 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. CT on Lifetime.
