It sucks to forget your password, especially when you know you’re only, like, one character off. It really sucks to forget your password when it’s being requested by a mysterious man on the other end of a payphone and you need to find your daughter and didn’t even have time to study something called the “rebellion texts” before the call. This is the absurd situation Leonardo DiCaprio’s character, Bob Ferguson, finds himself in in the first full-length trailer for One Battle After Another, his upcoming collaboration with Paul Thomas Anderson.

Throughout the rest of the trailer, Bob, a wannabe revolutionary, continually lands on the losing side of all his little skirmishes. His mother-in-law hates him, he walks around in a bathrobe Big Lebowski-style, and his revolutionary sensei (Benicio del Toro) pushes him out of a moving car and then tries to abandon him. It’s a bad day for Bob, but a great one for fans of both DiCaprio and PTA, who’ve had to endure months of teases about this film. It’s DiCaprio’s first project since Killers Of The Flower Moon and Anderson’s first since 2021’s Licorice Pizza. With an estimated budget of $140 million, per Variety, it’s also the most expensive of Anderson’s career, a battle with Warner Bros. that the director seems to have won.

In addition to DiCaprio and del Toro, One Battle After Another‘s cast includes Regina Hall, Teyana Taylor, Sean Penn, Alana Haim, Wood Harris, Shayna McHayle, and Chase Infiniti. The film premieres in theaters and IMAX on September 26.
