As reported by Deadline, Tobias Menzies has signed on for “a major role” in Underworld V, the upcoming vampire sequel that was easier to sell to the studio than a full reboot. Menzies plays the sadistic Black Jack Randall on Outlander, and he had a recurring role in season three of Game Of Thrones as “the guy who sucks at firing arrows”/“the groom from the Red Wedding.” In Underworld V, he’ll play Marius, the “mysterious” new leader of the werewolves—or “Lycans” if you want to use parlance of the Underworld universe. These movies have always been about the secret war between vampires and Lycans, so Menzies’ position as the Lycan leader presumably means he’ll be pretty important to the story—unless he quickly gets replaced for being really bad at firing arrows. Underworld V will be directed by Anna Foerster, who also directed the season finale of Outlander, and it’ll be in theaters on October 21, 2016.
