Kim Kardashian’s single-minded, relentless quest to break the internet continued on Monday when she tweeted a nude, albeit tastefully censored, selfie to her 41.3 million followers. The photo emerged only three months after the birth of the reality star’s second child with Kanye West, though it appears to be an old picture from when the star dyed her hair platinum blonde. Although seemingly everyone in the civilized world with any interest at all in Kardashian has likely already seen every square inch of her anatomy, the picture nevertheless generated widespread interest, earning 180 thousand likes and 100 thousand retweets within the span of a few hours. Kardashian captioned the picture with characteristic wit: “When you’re like I have nothing to wear LOL.”
The celebrity world reacted to the nude selfie swiftly and creatively. Chloë Grace Moretz felt this was a teachable moment.
Bette Midler, on the other hand, saw this as an opportunity to crack wise.
Kardashian was not amused by either of these responses and tweeted accordingly.
Meanwhile, Danny Tamberelli, the younger of the two titular siblings on Nickelodeon’s late, great The Adventures Of Pete And Pete had easily the best response to the notorious selfie. Drawing on his own inner Kardashian, the actor recreated the pose from the original picture and posted the result to his Instagram account. If ever a picture seemed uniquely suited to break the internet, it would be a selfie of a former Nickelodeon star standing nude in the middle of his living room and making a “sexy” face.
