Pete Davidson lands his dream role as Tommy Karate

“Tommy Karate is the greatest mob story never told,” says Davidson in a statement. “I’ve been working on this for over three years, and I’m beyond thrilled that it’s finally in motion. Playing a role like this is a dream job. We have a great team behind this one, and I can’t wait for people to see what we’ve come up with.” 

Based on some quick Wikipedia perusing, Davidson might have a point. Pitera was born in Brooklyn in the 1950s and, after being ostracized from the school baseball team and becoming obsessed with The Green Hornet, took up karate. He eventually spent more than two years studying karate in Tokyo before coming back to Brooklyn and joining the Bonanno crime family, where a career as a hit man and a superb nickname were born. When he was eventually indicted in 1990, investigators believed he had committed up to 60 murders, often dismembering the bodies and burying them in a Staten Island wildlife refuge. Pitera was eventually convicted of six murders and is currently serving a life sentence. Sounds like there’s plenty here for Davidson to sink his teeth into.
