Peter Murphy is sick of you being on your goddamn phone all the time. In fact, the former Bauhaus frontman commands you to hang that shit up on his new single titled, with refreshing directness, “Hang Up.” The song—whose suitably eerie video is being debuted here—is a single off Lion, his 10th solo album (produced with a hint of industrial severity by Youth of Killing Joke). Harsh, droning, sinuously catchy, and awash in Murphy’s ink-black croon, “Hang Up” is not something you ought to disobey. Unless, of course, you’re listening to it on your phone.
Lion will be released June 3 via Nettwerk; the single for “Hang Up” goes on sale April 8, with an exclusive Record Store Day remix 7-inch available at select retail stores April 19. His upcoming U.S. tour dates are below.
