Phantasm is now an art film, thanks to Art House Theater Day
It was announced earlier this week that Phantasm: Ravager would be hosting its world premiere at this year’s Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas. But for those who simply can’t wait until the film goes wide On October 7, there will be a special sneak preview as part of Art House Theater Day this September.
Phantasm: Remastered—a new 4k transfer of Don Coscarelli’s 1979 cult classic—will be screened across the nation as part of National Art House Theater Day, which “celebrates the art house theater and the cultural role it plays in a community.” Theaters from across the nation will be featuring varied days of programming, including the first “flat-out beautiful release” of Phantasm. Also showing with the film will be the aforementioned behind-the-scenes sneak peak at the fifth and final Phantasm adventure, as well as a special tribute to the late Angus Scrimm, the Tall Man himself.
Each participating theater will feature specially curated programming on the day of the event. Art House Theater Day is September 24th.
