Prince's memoir The Beautiful Ones will be released in October
When Prince died in 2016, he not only left behind a vault of unreleased music for his estate to dig through, he also apparently left behind an unfinished draft of a memoir called The Beautiful Ones. Now, because nothing a famous person touched can ever be forgotten once they’ve died, the memoir is now being released in its incomplete form. This comes from Billboard, which says Prince’s manuscript will be paired with “rare photos, scrapbooks, and lyrics” to complete the book, so it sounds like—thankfully—some other writing isn’t come on board to finish Prince’s memoir (which would be weird).
Billboard says the book is “the deeply personal account of how Prince Rogers Nelson became the Prince we know,” discussing how a regular kid ended up “creating a persona, an artistic vision, and a life, before the hits and the fame that would come to define him.” Interestingly, Billboard says the Prince’s literary agent claimed in 2018 that he had completed “more than 50 handwritten pages” for the book, but the finished version of The Beautiful Ones will come out to 288 pages. That’s a lot of rare photos, scrapbooks, and lyrics.
