Proactiv bails on Skins, leaving horny teens at risk for acne
MTV’s Skins has already been forced to sever its associations with razors, tacos, sandwiches, tax preparation, and chewing gum, but crucial as these things are, few are as relevant to the lifestyles of horny teens as proper skin care. So it’s perhaps the biggest setback yet that Proactiv has become the ninth advertiser to request that MTV stop airing its ads during the show, given the importance of pore maintenance to attracting members of the opposite sex for casual teenaged banging, as well as the fact that a typical sweaty orgy after downing shots during Tuesday night study group so often results in unwanted breakouts.
Of course, the move may prove to be shortsighted for Proactiv, considering that its competitor Clearasil is one of Skins’ remaining sponsors—although that relationship could very well be nearing an end too, considering the third episode featured a character advising another, “Piss on a piece of toilet paper and rub it on your face. It works better than Clearasil.” (“Clearasil has yet to weigh in,” The Hollywood Reporter adds helpfully.) Perhaps Proactiv bowed out early so as to avoid an upcoming scene where a character learns that the secret to avoiding blemishes is nightly bukkake?
