Unsurprisingly, a Project Hail Mary sequel may be on the horizon

Though nothing is confirmed yet, author Andy Weir is apparently looking to deliver a sequel book that can send more Rocky plushies to stores in the future.

Unsurprisingly, a Project Hail Mary sequel may be on the horizon

Looks like the Hail Mary was a failure because Project Hail Mary is getting a sequel. Per The Hollywood Reporter, as hard as it may be to believe, pretty much everyone making money off Hail Mary’s record-breaking box office success wants to keep the ship in orbit, which means Captain Andy Weir better start writing. Weir, who wrote the novel Project Hail Mary, is reportedly working on a sequel that would, effectively, undo the last-ditch effort to save the cosmos from destruction. It really is one dying star after another with this solar system. Nevertheless, everyone’s waiting to see if he can pull another Hail Mary out of that brain of his that would put Captain Ryland Grace back into the cockpit.

Gosling, THR reports, was on board even before the original book had launched. He received a copy a year before Weir published the book and passed it on to former Sony chief Amy Pascal, who collected Phil Lord and Chris Miller, then recently fired from Lucasfilm’s Solo, and put the project together. Six years and $190 million later, the film had one of the biggest non-franchise film releases ever. But it’s an honor the film will never receive again, because all involved want this to be a film franchise. All in all, it’s bad news for Grace, who found some solace and happiness on 40 Eridani after saving the Earth from destruction. Looks like he’ll be headed back to outer space, solving the world’s problems, yet again, sometime in the very near future.
