R.L. Stine is writing a Marvel comic book
R.L. Stine has written and published hundreds of books over the course of his long career as a children’s horror author, spread out across multiple series such as Goosebumps and Fear Street. He’s probably cranked out something new since you started reading this paragraph. At any rate, he must have recently grown tired of having a 45-minute break between contractual obligations, because he just added a new one. The 73-year-old author just announced in a Reddit AMA that he’s working on the first comic book series of his career.
When asked by a fan whether he’d ever considered working in a more visual storytelling genre, he responded by announcing, “I’m writing a series of comic books for Marvel—my first comics ever. But I’m not allowed to talk about them yet.”
There’s no guarantee that this is going to be a horror-themed comic, or that it will be geared toward children. When you write as many books as Stine does, you can hit a lot of markets: He started his career as a humorist, and his bibliography is peppered with all sorts of anomalies, like Spaceballs: The Book and a few Choose Your Own Adventure-esque Indiana Jones adventures. Red Rain, his latest adult novel, was published in 2012.
