Two San Francisco radio stations have placed a ban on Lorde’s “Royals” for the duration of the World Series, taking the number of times the average San Franciscan has heard the song down to a mere 4,000 or so. Bay Area rock station 104.5 KFOG announced its intentions on Twitter late Thursday night, followed by adult contemporary station 96.5 KOIT on Friday:

The gimmick has so far been very successful for both stations, if “success” can be defined by the number of people calling you “a bunch of petty idiots” and “a special kind of stupid” on Facebook. (They’ve also been receiving quite a bit of press, prompting Royals fans to inundate both stations with requests for the song.) In response, a Kansas City radio station has pledged to play ”Royals” every hour, on the hour, taking listeners back to the summer of 2013, when every radio station in the world was doing that anyway.
