Rapper Azealia Banks to play aspiring rapper in movie directed by RZA
According to Deadline, rapper Azealia Banks has just signed on to star in Coco, a drama film that’s going to be directed by RZA from the Wu-Tang Clan. The movie will be about a young woman trying to become a rapper, but her parents demand that she finishes college first (presumably so she can get a bona fide degree in hip-hop or whatever). While in school, she “experiences the true calling of the power of the spoken word, which helps her goals as a hip-hop artist.” We assume that means she’ll give a really good speech or something in class, and then she decides that the speech would be even better with some beats behind it, and that’s how she invents rap music.
