Ricky Gervais wants Will Arnett on The Office

Another day, another rumor of a possible replacement for Steve Carell; savor these, for they’ll soon be out of season. Anyway, if Ricky Gervais has his way—and as executive producer, he very well might—he’d like to see Will Arnett become a part of the team, with Gervais blogging, “Had a little meeting with NBC about various things and recommended Will Arnett for a regular in The Office. Thoughts? I think he's amazing.” Of course, Gervais didn’t say explicitly that he’d like to see Arnett brought in as the new boss, but Arnett’s usual pushy persona seems like an awkward fit for a background player. Anyway, Arnett’s schedule is certainly free now that Running Wilde has been canceled, and interestingly, whenever Alec Baldwin threatens to leave 30 Rock, it seems like the Internet starts pushing for Arnett’s Devon Banks to go full-time, so Arnett may very well be NBC’s go-to failsafe. He is… The Arnett Recourse. Didn’t Robert Ludlum write that? [via THR]
