Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes director wants to make "Full Metal Jacket with apes"

Given a surprisingly strong opening and an even more surprising endorsement from critics, it’s already time to start thinking about a sequel to Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes, and all the other verbs that a planet of apes can do. According to director Rupert Wyatt, he’d next like to make “Full Metal Jacket with apes” (apes other than Adam Baldwin), telling Bleeding Cool that he sees the story picking up eight years after the events of the first film to follow the “next generation of apes, those that have come from our protagonists, perhaps going in to a conflict with humans and showing real fear, in the same way as going into war for young soldiers in this day and age, telling their story.” Though we get what he’s going for, we’re not sure how that’s technically “Full Metal Jacket with apes,” unless there’s an extended training sequence full of systematic degradation from an ape drill instructor who insinuates that only queers and gibbons come from Texas, and so on. Or maybe they’re just trying to show the duality of monkeys—the Jungian thing. These are all quotes from Full Metal Jacket with ape-related substitutes. Try it. It's fun. [via Movieline]
