Less than 24 hours after it was reported that Robert Zemeckis would be directing a remake of The Wizard Of Oz working from the original 1939 script, Zemeckis has issued a statement calling such reports “absolutely false” and “completely untrue.” Judging by the collective Internet response to the idea of a straight Oz redo, it seems likely that Warner Bros. may also just forget it ever mentioned it, and focus instead on something with a little more creative integrity, such as an all-monkey remake of Citizen Kane.
