Ryan Murphy is making a horror series that’s funny on purpose

Called Scream Queens, the show will pick up after Glee finishes its run on Fox and, like American Horror Story, will tell a different stand-alone story every season, the first of which is about a series of murders on a college campus. “We hope to create a whole new genre – comedy-horror – and the idea is for every season to revolve around two female leads,” Murphy tells Deadline, having somehow accomplished the remarkable feat of producing four seasons of a horror TV show without ever having heard of the Evil Dead movies (or Dead Alive, or Shaun Of The Dead, or Fright Night, or Gremlins, or Slither, or The Cabin In The Woods, or Scream, or The Return Of The Living Dead, or Bubba Ho-Tep, or Abbot And Costello Meet Frankenstein, or…).
