The original Sacred Heart Hospital becoming condos would be a pretty good Scrubs plotline.

Bill Lawrence has no shortage of projects to work on, and yet he still couldn’t resist the siren call of more Scrubs. A revival of the beloved medical sitcom was announced at the end of last year, with the implication that most of the old gang would be returning to Sacred Heart Hospital. Except that it won’t be the same Sacred Heart that fans came to know and love over the course of eight seasons. Speaking with The A.V. Club‘s Drew Gillis on the red carpet of the WGA Awards, Lawrence said of the revival that “The only bummer is that hospital is beautiful condos now on Riverside Drive in L.A. So we’ve gotta find a different creepy deserted hospital.” He added: “The sad part is I’m sure we can.”

Sacred Heart already wasn’t quite the same by the time the show finished its run. In the soft-rebooted ninth season, the show filmed at Culver Studios (rather than North Hollywood Medical Center) and a new version of Sacred Heart became affiliated with the fictional Winston University medical school. So the hospital perhaps looking a little different has precedent within the Scrubs universe.

Of course, given that it’s been 15 years everybody might look a little different—except maybe Christa Miller. “I’m not older than I was, but other people are,” Lawrence’s wife (and star of Scrubs, Shrinking, and Cougar Town) joked on the WGA Awards carpet. When the showrunner proposed using a lot of makeup and setting the revival one day after the finale, Miller countered, “We’re gonna do it like Benjamin Button, and the show is gonna be CGI and everyone’s gonna be the same age. But not me, ’cause I normally look like that.”

Previously, Lawrence posted on Twitter/X that he understood some fans have “reservations” about yet another classic sitcom revival. But at the WGA Awards, Miller laid out some good reasons for bringing the show back. “First of all, we’re all friends. The cast and the crew and the writers and [everyone], we’re all friends and hang out all the time anyway. We could just film it and put that as a show,” she said. “But everyone said it was the best gig they ever had. We all love each other and there’s no reason not to try it, and Bill thought long and hard about it, and I’m sure he has a good plan.”

“Thank you,” her husband replied. “Now I almost believe I have a good plan.”
