Rick Moranis remembers a comedy golden era in the trailer for SCTV: The Greatest Show You've Never Heard Of

At any rate, this new documentary directed by Jason Hehir (HBO’s Murder in Boston: Roots, Rampage, And Reckoning) appears to feature your bog-standard remembrances from relevant talking heads—including occasional funny man Tom Hanks—interspersed with archival footage and remastered sketches starring SCTV regulars John Candy, Catherine O’Hara, Eugene Levy, Andrea Martin, Joe Flaherty, Martin Short, Harold Ramis, and Dave Thomas. And if there are theoretical younger folks among us who may have never watched SCTV (or “Second City Television”), Netflix has taken the precaution of recruiting SCTV performer/absolute legend Rick Moranis to speak about the show, which should prompt some of the more curious and cooler types out there to watch the show—which, wouldn’t you know it, is handily available on Netflix! Also spotted in this trailer is Bob Odenkirk, whose participation suggests that a “Remember Mr. Show?” documentary is probably not far off. 

SCTV: The Greatest Show You’ve Never Heard Of follows another locquaciously titled documentary from this era in comedy history, Nick Davis’ You Had To Be There…, which detailed the Canadian production of Godspell that brought together future SCTV players like Short, Levy, and Martin.
