In further evidence that Nickelback jokes are still thriving among our nation’s “cool dads,” Nebraska senator Ben Sasse—you know, the Republican almost willing to stand up against Trump—is currently being trolled with Nickelback promo materials and newsletters.
This might be funny if the guy didn’t care about the band or genuinely was engaged in some kind of blood feud with Chad Kroeger, but he is clearly loving this. Sasse has a long history of doling out Nickelback burns of his own, each more groan-worthy than the last.
And those are just the ones since mid-May.
He even released a statement to The Verge, one the Canadian police might’ve found funny last year. “I’m not sure what Canada does but, in this country, cruel and unusual punishment is outlawed. This crossed a line.”
Since Nickelback seems to be one of the few things that gets through to Sasse, several Twitter users have taken this opportunity to press the Republican senator on the floundering healthcare bill the GOP is currently sweating all over.
Next time send him some Chainsmokers swag. That’s real torture.
