Showtime developing Stephen King's Under The Dome as a drama series

Much like the Western, Stephen King adaptations seem to be having much greater luck getting made on the small screen these days, with the loss of Universal’s proposed The Dark Tower being ameliorated somewhat by first A&E’s Bag Of Bones and now Under The Dome, which Deadline reports is being developed as a Showtime drama series. King’s 2009 novel—which takes The Simpson Movie’s premise of a city trapped under an impenetrable barrier to a conclusion that features way more meth and disemboweling—will be fleshed out into a weekly show by DreamWorks Television and executive producer Steven Spielberg. Considering the book sprawled its story over more than 1,000 pages and is heavy enough to cause its own horrific injuries, it definitely shouldn’t lack for material.
