Showtime renews Homeland, of course
Showtime has ordered a third season of Homeland—a decision that, under normal circumstances, would seem to be based entirely on the cable channel’s usual inertia, but in this case is a genuine reflection of worth. After all, the series recently took home all the Emmys, finally giving Showtime a taste of pride that could possibly factor into it not buying every “attractive person acts like a totally untrustworthy shitbird” pitch it hears from now on, and having a little self-respect as “the network that gave you Homeland.” And besides being consistently riveting, the show has also enjoyed a healthy increase in ratings, scoring its most-watched hour yet last night with 1.75 million viewers. Its renewal is for 12 more episodes, or approximately 43 cumulative minutes of Claire Danes crying.
