Soundgarden planning to record a new album
Soundgarden’s recent reunion spawned a successful headlining gig at Lollapalooza and even landed them a Grammy nomination for a nearly 20-year-old song, so it’s probably not surprising that the band has decided that being back together isn’t so bad. According to a message posted on the group’s official website, that rediscovered camaraderie may even extend to actually recording again: Under the headline “Our Goal for 2011: Let's Make a Record,” the band gushed, "Over the past few months, we've been busy jamming, writing and hanging out together—exploring the creative aspect of being Soundgarden. It feels great,” adding, “We have some cool new songs that we are going to record very soon.” In the meantime, it’s gearing up to release its first official live album, Soundgarden: Live On I-5, featuring tracks culled from its 1996 tour, when the world was still new. That record is due out on March 22. [via MTV]
