After days of leaks, speculation, and a purposefully premature announcement from Game Informer, Square Enix has officially revealed Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. The sequel takes place two years after Deus Ex: Human Revolution. (You can read all about that 2011 cyberpunk romp in today’s Special Topics In Gameology essay.) As the story goes, the disastrous events of Human Revolution led Earth’s cybernetically enhanced humans to lose control of their bodies and slaughter millions of innocents. Unsurprisingly, this has created tension between those with augmentations and those without, and returning star Adam Jensen finds himself in the middle of a global conflict between powerful groups representing the interests of both sides.
