Star Wars trailer recut in Avengers: Age Of Ultron fashion
If there’s one thing the Internet loves, it’s finding ways to repurpose Star Wars footage. If there are two things the Internet loves, it’s finding ways to repurpose Star Wars footage and also using elements from Marvel films in some new manner. So while there is an abundance of these types of cross-pollinations, especially with both falling under the Disney corporate umbrella, there are some that are so well done that they deserve recognition. The Unusual Suspect (aka Ross Thompson) has produced such a successful mash-up, this time by recutting a trailer for Star Wars in the same way as the Avengers: Age Of Ultron trailer.
By using the same music, dramatic beats, and cuts between shots, Thompson is able to reproduce the feeling of doom and dread so prevalent in the Marvel trailer. This isn’t a mash-up where Hawkeye is firing arrows at Jabba The Hutt or Iron Man is having a discussion with IG-88, but instead is a winning attempt at bringing style from a 2014 trailer to a film series from the ’70s and ’80s. It’s an impressive exercise in transposing styles and tone using pre-existing footage from the Original Trilogy:
