Stephen King's Bag Of Bones to become Pierce Brosnan-starring miniseries
A&E has announced via press release that it has given a green light to Bag Of Bones, a four-hour miniseries based on Stephen King’s 1998 novel of the same name, with a debut date scheduled for later this year. Pierce Brosnan will take the lead role, returning to television for the first time since his early-’90s heyday of made-for-TV thrillers like Death Train and Detonator II: The Night Watch that he’d probably prefer you not mention in polite company. He’ll play one of King’s favorite archetypes, the troubled novelist, taking on the role of the recently widowed Mike Noonan, whose mourning of his late wife (Annabeth Gish) is complicated by the fact that she keeps showing up as a ghost. There is probably a Ghost Writer joke in there somewhere. Anyway, after moving to their lakeside retreat in Maine, Noonan becomes involved in a bitter custody battle over a young girl, which, naturally, leads to the unraveling of a supernatural mystery involving death, haunting, and a town’s dark secrets, because this is a story by Stephen King and not, say, Elizabeth Berg. Oh yeah, you heard me, Elizabeth Berg! Try adding some ghosts sometime!
